Grupo Liberdade is a performance group and artist collective dedicated to freedom of expression through Culture, Movement & Sound. We promote COMMUNITY, LEADERSHIP & EMPOWERMENT drawing upon the traditional & contemporary rhythms of the Americas & Carribean from Brasil to Cuba and beyond. Specializing in Batucada including the Afro-Brazilian styles of Samba, Samba Reggae, Côcos and Maracatu. The group is open to new potential members and students who are serious about learning the intricacies of these traditions and willing to dedicate time to learning and potentially performing. Bringing sounds from around the Americas to Phoenix, Arizona is only part of the work that Grupo Liberdade strives towards. We seek to not only explore traditional folkloric styles, but to also bring an original sound relevant to our urban context along with other creative mediums.

Currently we are seeking musicians, dancers and other multimedia artists to collaborate in performance venues throughout the Year. Integrating new & mixed media through a wide range of tenchological applications, we wish to constantly push the creative envelope.
